The arthroscope (optics) and instruments are inserted into the joint through small incisions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-379a5fd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"379a5fd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What are the advantages of arthroscopy?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa18fe1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fa18fe1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">The advantage over open surgery is that the <strong>joint<\/strong> does not have to be opened completely. Arthroscopy usually involves making only two small incisions, one for the arthroscope and one for the surgical instruments. This type of surgery shortens the recovery time because there is less trauma to the connective tissue. Irrigation fluid is used to expand the joint and create a surgical space. The surgical instruments are much smaller than usual instruments. color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\">Hemorrhage<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: var(--nv-site-bg); color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\">, <\/span><strong style=\"background-color: var(--nv-site-bg); color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\">Salivary head fractures <\/strong><span style=\"background-color: var(--nv-site-bg); color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\">and <\/span><a style=\"background-color: var(--nv-site-bg); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ortho-hart.at\/en\/elbow\/elbow-luxation-elbow-instability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dislocations with evidence of bone fragments.<\/a><span style=\"background-color: var(--nv-site-bg); color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: var(--bodyletterspacing); text-transform: var(--bodytexttransform);\">  be indicated. Last but not least, arthroscopy can be used for infectious inflammation (septic arthritis). Arthroscopy can be used to determine the origin of the corpuscles. The cause may be dissecting osteochondrosis of the humeral head, Panner&#8217;s disease, a broken osteophyte, an osteochondral or transchondral fracture, or chondromatosis. The extraction of the corpuscle does not cause any difficulties. The joint capsule of the elbow joint dilates in locally and smaller loose bodies can hide in these dilations.
