If you are treated by an elective doctor, the doctor will issue you with a fee note or invoice. These costs must first be paid by you as the patient. However, you have the option of submitting the fee note to your health insurance company within 42 months of the treatment. The health insurance company usually reimburses around 80% of the amount that a statutory health insurance doctor would have received for the same treatment. If you have supplementary insurance or private insurance, you can submit the remaining amount of the fee note to your insurance company.
